What this notice covers
This notice applies to this website and to any request for quotation (RFQ) you submit through it. It does not cover the terms of a supply contract, which are set out separately in the terms of sale.
What we collect
We collect two things, and only when you choose to send them.
- RFQ details: the division, your description of the item, quantity, target price, Incoterm, destination country and port, and required delivery date.
- Contact details: company name, your name, work email, and optionally phone and a messenger handle.
- Files you attach: CAD models, drawings and documents in STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, PDF or ZIP form.
- Technical request data handled by our infrastructure provider for security and abuse prevention, including IP address.
What we do not collect
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics that identify you. Site statistics are collected in aggregate and cookie-free, which is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner.
We do not sell, rent or share your details or your drawings with anyone outside the supply chain needed to quote and fulfil your request.
Why we use it
To prepare and send you a quotation, to ask clarifying questions about your specification, and, if you place an order, to manufacture, inspect and ship it. The lawful basis is the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering one.
Your drawings
CAD files and drawings are treated as your confidential technical information. They are shared with a manufacturing supplier only to the extent needed to quote or produce the part, and under the same confidentiality obligation we owe you.
Where it is stored and for how long
Uploaded files are stored in object storage operated by our infrastructure provider. RFQ records are retained for the period stated below and then deleted.
- RFQs that do not become orders: CLIENT TO SUPPLY: retention period, e.g. 24 months
- RFQs that become orders: retained for the period required by applicable commercial and tax law
- Uploaded files: deleted on the same schedule as the RFQ they belong to
International transfer
Fortex is established in the People’s Republic of China. If you are in the EU, the UK or another jurisdiction with cross-border transfer rules, submitting an RFQ involves transferring your details outside that jurisdiction. CLIENT TO SUPPLY: transfer mechanism relied upon, confirmed by counsel
Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to a particular use. Write to the quality or sales address on the contact page and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows.
Security
Files are uploaded directly to storage over an encrypted connection rather than passing through our application, submissions are rate limited, and form contents are not written to application logs or analytics.
Contact
Questions about this notice go to the addresses on the contact page. CLIENT TO SUPPLY: named data protection contact, and an EU/UK representative if one is required
