Sourcing and supply chain

We buy where the part is actually made.

China’s industrial capacity is not in one city. Composite weaving, precision machining, fastener production and bearing manufacture each cluster in different provinces, and the right supplier for your part is rarely the one nearest our door. Fortex qualifies and buys from those clusters directly, without a trading layer in between, so the specification you write is the specification the shop floor reads.

Consolidating at origin means one inspection pass, one shipment and one set of documents, whether the order came from one factory or five. We quote sea, rail or air against your delivery date and price target, and say plainly when air is the only mode that meets it.

How an order runs

Four steps, each with a name against it.

  1. 01

    Specification and CAD review

    An engineer reads your drawing, flags anything unmanufacturable or expensive to hold, and confirms grade, tolerance and finish in writing before anything is priced.

  2. 02

    Sample and material testing

    First article or material sample against your specification, with the test data and material certificate that back it. You approve the sample before bulk starts.

    5–15 days

  3. 03

    Bulk production with inspection

    Production under the approved sample, with dimensional inspection and, where the part calls for it, CMM or non-destructive testing during the run rather than after it.

    10–30 days

  4. 04

    Door-to-door freight

    Export packing to sea or air standard, full documentation pack, and freight on FOB, CIF or DDP terms with the tracking reference sent on dispatch.

Quality and documentation

Procurement engineers are not persuaded by badges. They are persuaded by the paperwork matching the parts. Every Fortex shipment carries the documents below, and we will send you a sample pack before you order so you can check the format against your own incoming inspection.

See quality and testing

  • Material test certificate (MTC)

    EN 10204 3.1 for metals and fasteners, carrying the heat or batch number so the material can be traced back from the part in your hand.

  • Certificate of analysis (COA)

    For composite reinforcement and resin systems: areal weight, tow specification, resin batch, and shelf life with the manufacture date.

  • Dimensional inspection report

    Measured values against the drawing, not a pass or fail stamp. Sample size stated. CMM reports where the tolerance or the customer requires them.

  • Packing list and photographs

    Carton-level packing list with weights and dimensions, plus photographs of the goods as packed before the container is sealed.
